Austin ranks 19th among best places to do business

Austin ranks No. 19 in Inc. magazine's new list of the top U.S. cities for doing business based on education, cost of living and quality of life.

San Antonio came in at No. 4 spot, with McAllen at No. 26.

This year's list included some surprises, according to Inc., as the result of new criteria based on current and historical job growth.

The leading area on the list is Atlanta, followed by Riverside-San Bernardino, Calif., Las Vegas, San Antonio and West Palm Beach, Fla.

Others in the top 10 are southern New Jersey; Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood-Pompano Beach, Fla.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Newark, N.J.; and Washington, D.C.-suburban Maryland.
