PlainsCapital to build third area branch

PlainsCapital Corp. is opening its third location in the Austin area, expanding north to Round Rock.

With $2.1 billion in assets, PlainsCapital Bank is the second largest, privately held bank in Texas.

The 7,500-square-foot bank will be located on the corner of LaFrontera Boulevard and Sundance Parkway. Existing Austin area locations are 919 Congress Ave. and 2705 Bee Caves Rd.

"In just three years, we have developed a strong customer base and grown to $300 million in local assets in Austin," says James Huffines, chairman of the central Texas and south Texas regions of PlainsCapital Bank.

Austin-based Riverside Resources Inc. is the project developer, and locally-based Chasco Construction Inc. has been selected as the builder. Construction is expected to begin this week, and the bank is scheduled to open in the fall.

PlainsCapital Bank now has branches in Amarillo, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Lubbock, with a San Antonio branch opening this spring.

Both PlainsCapital Bank and PlainsCapital McAfee Mortgage will operate from the new location. PlainsCapital McAfee Mortgage provides residential mortgages.

PlainsCapital Corp. is based in Dallas.
