Grande acquires TXU customers
Takes Over Telecom for La Frontera

San Marcos-based Grande Communications Inc. has purchased rights to provide Internet and telephone services to certain commercial and residential customers of the communications division of Dallas-based TXU Corp. [NYSE: TXU], Grande announced Monday.

Grande's new customers will include all commercial and multifamily accounts of the La Frontera real estate development in Round Rock.

Nearly 30 multifamily projects throughout Houston and about 15,000 commercial and residential lines in the Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio areas also are included.

Financial details weren't released.

Grande will deliver high-speed Internet and local and long-distance telephone services to retail accounts previously managed by TXU Communications.

The acquisition of TXU Communications customers in Austin and San Antonio accelerates our progress in our Central Texas home. The addition of customers in Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston allows us to introduce Grande's retail brand to the largest markets in Texas well ahead of schedule," Grande Vice Chairman and CEO William Morrow says.

La Frontera has an existing central office and switch equipment that previously served as TXU Communications' hub in Central Texas. The office and equipment will be owned and operated by Grande, according to a Grande news release.

The La Frontera development is northwest of I-35 and FM 1325 in Round Rock. The 328-acre, master-planned complex comprises retail and office space, a 300-room full-service Marriott hotel and conference center, and approximately 900 high-end apartments.

TXU Gas and Electric will continue to provide utility service to La Frontera.

Grande provides business and residential customers with high-speed Internet access, local and long-distance phone and cable TV services over a single network. Its other markets for bundled broadband services include San Marcos, Waco, Corpus Christi, Midland and Odessa.
