Lexmark Lands in Round Rock With Dell Deal
by Tim Green
AUSTIN-Dell Computer Corp.'s printer deal with Lexmark Inc. has given a slight boost to the office market. Lexmark, based in Louisville, KY, has leased 3,000 at The Summit at La Frontera.
Jay Lamy of the Staubach Co., who represented Lexmark, tells GlobeSt.com that the move is directly related to the new Lexmark-Dell relationship. Ronnie Landry of Landry Commercial acted for the building owner, San Antonio-based Koontz McCombs.
The Lexmark lease takes the building, which opened about a year ago, to 10% occupancy, Landry says. He adds there's good activity in inquiries about the 87,711-sf building, which is close to Dell's Round Rock campus. The Summit is part of the 328-acre La Frontera mixed-use development's office building line-up.
Lexmark and Dell last week announced a deal in which Lexmark would make Dell-branded printers and ink cartridges for the Austin-based computer maker. Sales are to begin in 2003. Meanwhile, Dell will sell Lexmark products.
